Seasons VS Episodes — What’s The Difference?

New activity is called Episode instead of a Season, and creators promise it will bring a huge difference and diversity into the gameplay. The first huge difference is the amount of content provided. Episode will last 4 months which is much longer than a regular episode. It means that there will be more fights, stories, and things to try in general.

The content will appear from time to time in the format of Acts. Each Act will bring new activities, story parts, and even more weapons, achievements, Exotic missions and Battlegrounds. The release calendar currently looks like this:

• Act 1 — June 11, 2024;
• Act 2 — July 16, 2024;
• Act 3 — August 27, 2024;
• end of the Episode — October 8, 2024.

Echoes Episode Storyline

Episodes cover parts of the plot that go beyond the main storyline, which ended in the previous Season. In the episode Echoes, you will go to a new minor planet, Nessus. It keeps changing all the time and hides an unknown and powerful threat. Despite the victory over Witness in the previous season, aftermaths keep appearing around, worrying distant planets.

One of the Witness’s Echoes has reached the depths of it, and an unknown creature now owns a powerful artifact which allows it to control Vex. Now Guardians must discover all the mysteries of Nessus and face all coming dangers with bravery.

To uncover more parts of the new story, you must earn Season Pass EXP and complete various new activities.

New Weapons & Armor in Echoes Episode

Echoes will introduce plenty of powerful items, both new and reworked from the Season. Six weapons can be seen in the Act 1, and 9 more will appear in further parts of the episode. Every weapon has a Radiolaria Transposer origin trait. It will explode targets and create a pool of toxic radiolarian substances.

Here is the list of all brand-new weapons from the Echoes episode:

• Speleologist – Rapid-Fire Solar Machine Gun;
• Lost Signal – Area Denial Stasis Special GL;
• Timeworn Wayfarer – Aggressive Solar Scout Rifle;
• Faith-Keeper – Void Precision Rocket Launcher;

And here are weapons from the Season of Dawn that are coming back this summer. Their origin trait is called Cast No Shadows. It improves handling and damage given by each of these guns.

Also, there are brand-new armor pieces available. The first one is already available on the Season Pass only. Its name is Chromacloak, and the armor itself is vivid and shining. The second armor set is not available yet and is going to appear in further Acts.

Failsafe Seasonal Vendor — What’s New?

Failsafe is an old friend for all experienced Guardians. Now it's back as a new seasonal vendor and quest giver in the Echoes episode. She has 17 reputation levels with fantastic rewards for climbing new ones, and resetting the track will bring you an Ascendant Shard. Here is the loot you will get:

• Ranks 4, 10, 16 — Organic Specimen;
• Rank 7 — Line in the Sand Legendary linear fusion rifle;
• Rank 13 — Reprisal Weapon Engram;
• on reset — Ascendant Shard.

Collaborate with Vanguard allies to earn Seasonal engrams, acquire powerful weapons and armor, and collect Radiolite samples. You can gather Radiolite samples in Episode: Echoes activities and exchange them at a Radiolite bay for extra rewards. Furthermore, Guardians can support Failsafe in researching the collected specimens to unlock permanent upgrades through the H.E.L.M. 's Research Bay.

Enigma Protocol is a secret activity located on Nessus. You must complete an Encoded Log quest received from Failsafe. To access it, players need to find glitchy pink phantoms floating within a blue circle. Stepping inside the circle will reveal a jumbled array of symbols beneath the radar.

To decipher the message, locate a nearby Vex Conflux. Interact with the Conflux to obtain a Decoder Protocol. Return to the blue circle, and you should see a clue indicating where to search for the next message. Continue this process until you encounter a yellow-bar enemy.

Defeat the enemy and look for a newly accessible opening to an underground area. Once you reach the bottom, you will find a flag that initiates the activity.

So once you’ve discovered the Enigma Protocol, what are your further actions? The mission primarily involves challenging platforming and Sparrow driving segments that ultimately lead to a portal directing you to an objective area. Complete the objective, then quickly move to the next portal, continuing this process until you reach a loot chest. Objectives include charging a Radiolite Circuit in moving charging pools, destroying shielded Harpies with exploding spheres, breaking pink pods and collecting their dropped items, and defeating Vex bosses.

Upon reaching the loot chest, you can either continue the mission or reset it to start over. To pursue better Enigma Protocol rewards, jump through the portal and proceed as usual, eventually encountering a massive Vex boss and obtaining another loot chest. After looting this chest, the mission concludes.

Alternatively, if all players activate the Force Reboot Network Instance button located to the left of the portal, the activity will restart from the beginning, allowing you to farm Echoes loot efficiently. While the Enigma Protocol can be completed solo, having allies to help reduce the number of Vex enemies will make the task significantly easier, particularly with the time constraints.
