Season of Discovery Molten Core is a revamped and enhanced version of the iconic raid from Vanilla WoW. SoD Phase 4 is introducing several massive updates to the raid, including changes to loot, difficulty adjustments, and the addition of a new boss. What is Molten Core Raid in Season of Discovery?

In the Season of Discovery, Molten Core is scaled down to a 20-player raid, unlike its original version that required a raid of 40 people. Additionally, there are 11 bosses instead of the original 10, and the raid features a scalable difficulty system called “Heat”.

Players can increase the difficulty of the raid by speaking with Duke Hydraxis in Azshara to adjust the "Heat Levels." Setting the difficulty to Blistering Heat or Molten Heat makes the raid more challenging. Making Molten Core raid does not affect the quality of loot but it does affect the number of items that will drop. The harder the difficulty – the more loot you will get! Groups playing on "Molten Heat" will see more items drop compared to those on "Normal" difficulty, but the items will be the same in terms of item level and power.

Molten Core Trash

The Molten Core raid is located deep within Blackrock Mountain, which lies between the zones of Searing Gorge and the Burning Steppes. It's a relatively large volcanic area known for its intense heat, which plays a key role in Season of Discovery.

Season of Discovery Molten Core Raid Attunement

To attune to the Molten Core, players at level 55 or higher can start the quest "Attunement to the Core" from Lothos Riftwaker at the bottom of Blackrock Mountain. This quest requires entering the Blackrock Depths Dungeon to locate the Molten Core raid entrance. Once the quest is completed, players can directly enter the raid by speaking with Lothos Riftwaker, bypassing Blackrock Depths.

When Does Molten Core Reset?

With the launch of Phase 4, certain raids from the Season of Discovery will have their lockout frequency adjusted to twice weekly. However, Molten Core is not included in this change and will maintain a “once-per-week” lockout schedule.
